What Is Mirror Text?
Mirror text is writing arranged to look as though it has been reflected horizontally or read from right to left. Online mirror text can be produced by reversing character order, substituting letters with visually reversed Unicode characters, or combining both methods.
That distinction matters because “mirror text” and “backwards text” are often used as if they mean exactly the same thing.
A simple backwards version of Hello becomes olleH. The letters keep their normal shapes. Only their order changes.

Is Mirror Text a Font?
Mirror text is usually not a downloadable font.
A backwards text generator can simply rearrange the characters you entered. A more decorative mirror text generator may replace some characters with visually similar symbols already available through Unicode.
That is why the result can often be selected, copied, and pasted like ordinary text instead of being saved as an image.
The limitation is that Unicode was not designed as a complete mirrored alphabet. It includes mirroring behavior for selected characters such as brackets and mathematical symbols, but there is no perfect reflected counterpart for every English letter. Mirror Text Is Not the Same as Upside-Down Text
Mirror text reflects writing across a vertical direction, while upside-down text imitates a 180-degree rotation.
Imagine holding printed text in front of a mirror. The result is a left-to-right reflection. Now imagine turning the paper upside down. That produces a different transformation.
For example, a backwards text tool primarily changes order: TEXT → TXET. An upside-down text tool instead uses characters that resemble rotated versions of the originals and normally reverses their order so the finished result can be read after an imagined 180-degree rotation.
How Unicode Affects Mirrored Text
